– Anne M. Mulcahy
Anne Mulcahy was onto something when she wrote this and we can’t deny that employees are the backbone of every corporation. It doesn’t matter how old the company is or how big its area of operation but what matters most is its exceptional employees who are tirelessly working and offering their service. As time passes employees can tend to become disengaged and careless and don’t work at their full employee potential. This is because they don’t feel valued and motivated.
For some, having an omnipresent digital version of ourselves has been easy. Thanks to the pervasiveness of advance technology and wireless Internet, there is barely any question that goes unanswered and no demand for knowledge clarification is not affirmed. Because of the privilege of accessibility, we all feel that we are the go-to-person and we act as though we have been everywhere and that we have experienced everything. We forget that it is possible to recognize individual differences when it comes to learning ability. We must admit that many of us feel like we are left out or that we are having difficult times to catch up because we put limits on our potential. But there are ways to improve ourselves and learn new things. In this episode, Joshua Lewis shares with us how we can change up our personal choices to improve learning.
“I believe that leadership is like a wilderness and that you can learn to read the map.”
– Zoe Routh
In today’s episode, Zoe Routh of Inner Compass talks about how to better your business. You may be in a position where you’re worried about possibly a looming recession (or maybe you’re not). Some businesses we have been working with have gone from 30–50 employees down to 3–5, so it’s scary times. But Zoe is an expert when it comes to building relationships and making sure the relationships you have with your teams and with yourself are on point. She helps leaders manage that kind of process and its effects on their people, instead of cutting expenses and other business decisions.
Have you ever experienced attending a conference but you were on your mobile phone the whole time and was never connected with the speaker? Or maybe you experienced something similar like the person next to you was opening up about how their day went but you weren’t listening and have missed most of the important points of the entire conversation. In this episode, Oscar Trimboli shares the methods and techniques we can apply to be a better listener. We will also discuss how listening can be a crucial part of being successful.
Today, we’re going to talk about how to efficiently manage your remote workforce. You’re all happy and home and hose that you’ve got everyone working from home and you’ve noticed that they aren’t quite meeting their KPIs, or maybe they are, or maybe you didn’t have KPIs in the first place. Whatever the case may be, we’re going to go through some really handy ways that you can measure your staff’s performance on a keyboard stroke, phone call, or whatever the KPI metric that you want to measure is.
In this episode, Warren Maris from Magnus Business Advisers and Accountants share with us how we can recession-proof our business. We talk about having a unique selling proposition, employing ‘good’ people, putting the right people in roles that are right for them, being open to change and involving people in changes, keeping only ‘good’ clients, documenting everything (from client agreements to procedures), getting off the tools, having a thirst for knowledge, and working on the important elements of business in the correct order.
How to Teach Your Staff About Data Security
I’ve just been talking to a business owner and we put them up to the “Let Us Hack You” challenge. Yes, it is exactly what it sounds like. We’re the good guys and we jump in and try to hack your systems like the baddies could and see if we can get in. Okay, much to their dismay we got in, and they were not impressed.
I’m in Memphis, Tennessee, where 50 years ago Martin Luther King, Junior was shot. But rather than killing his movement, the incident made him a symbol of equality.
How to Spot Fraud and Save Money?
Stock counts out, and your competitors are doing better than you. Something seems amiss. Maybe it’s something as simple as you’re having a bad day, or it could be something as terrible as one of your employees is smuggling away paths or clients. Read on to find out what you can do about it, what measures you can put in place and how you can work out what it is that’s going on.
Bring peace and harmony into your workplace. Today we’re going to talk about what’s important in the workplace. This could be anything from that coffee machine to anything else that you think people hold value to. I find, for us, there’s a lot of things that really just pump up people’s spirits. We have a pool table and ping-pong table so that when people are keen on Friday knock-offs, they’re able to kick their weekend off with a bit of a laugh.
Wow! We’ve got a bore of a question that came in. Do we think employees, generally speaking, are an asset or a liability? That’s a great question, and it all depends on your environment and the ecosystem that you’ve brought them up in. It depends.
What Is Stopping You From Employing Remotely?
Today, we’ve been asked about hiring remotely and it’s an interesting one, because here at Dorks Delivered we do hire abroad and think it can be fantastic when done properly. We have people that work within Australia, as well as people that work overseas for us. The reason we decided to hire people remotely was due to a couple of factors. The main one is that we operate an IT company. As part of our business we need to monitor and manage other companies, and a lot of the time we needed to do this overnight. If we can monitor and get the work done during the off-peak time for these companies, we can make sure that they have their uptime and integrity during the day. Remote hiring is perfect for this, and perfect for some parts of our business.
Business means working in groups. When people work in groups, different and distinctive personalities emerge. Based on these personalities, the group members take on roles and behave accordingly. This is known as “group dynamics”. A team is a group of people working together so the same dynamics apply to the team. The performance of a team is directly proportional to the team dynamics. Good dynamics will increase productivity and lead to good decision making and vice-versa. Every leader aspires to have a good team with him so the group can achieve to its highest potential.
Today’s question: is remote working worth the hype? I think this is really, really interesting that I’ve been asked this question because I’m in a very good position where we are in IT company that operates with companies remotely. We employ staff that work with us remotely. So we are both the employer, and in a sense the employee of a remote workspace. In my opinion, it definitely helps productivity as long as you’re in an environment that allows for it and you’ve got a mindset of success. You can’t have someone who needs to be spoon fed working remotely. You need to make sure that you have the discipline and due diligence to continue to work day in and day out to get the job done, make sure that this is easily viewable, and you don’t get ripped off.
